Join WI DPI Social Studies consultant Kris McDaniel on a special tour of the Wisconsin State Capitol building and the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) History Makers Space.  We will meet at the state capitol (2 E Main Street in Madison) at 9:30am on June 18th and have two separate tours of our majestic capitol building with an eye towards place-based learning and bringing student field trips to the capitol - we will keep in mind and brainstorm how you could bring students to the capitol and actually meet social studies standards.  At noon, we will move over to the History Maker Space (US Bank Building, 1 S. Pinckney St in Madison) for lunch from Gooseberry's and an overview of how students can experience hands on history with artifacts.  Finally, Kurt Griesemer, WHS Manager of PK-12 Education Initiatives, will provide an overview of their AMAZING new program Wisconsin Adventures.

This teacher field trip is meant for adults, not students/children.  No humans under the age of 18 will be allowed.  Please respect teacher space by only registering if you are a K-12 classroom teacher.

There is a cap of 35 teachers for this teacher field trip.

*Please note: There are a number of flights of stairs involved in this field trip.
